MONTEBELLO – Organizers of an attempted recall against City Councilwoman Rosie Vasquez missed a deadline to have the intent published and provide proof to the city clerk, officials said. Election Code required that recall proponents file two copies of the intent document, along with proof that a copy had been published in a newspaper not more than 10 days after Vasquez was served with recall papers on May 9, said Lillian Guzman, deputy city manager for Montebello. Responding to the news at Wednesday night’s council meeting, Vasquez called the attempt to recall her “a dead issue” now.
