first_imgStory Links University of Toronto football players Jamal Johnson and Clay Sequeira have been selected to represent the Varsity Blues at the 2019 East West Bowl next Saturday, May 11 at Carleton University in Ottawa.This year’s game marks the first time the annual event will be held in the nation’s capital. The 17th annual top prospects game showcases the next generation of CFL stars heading into their draft years. The game will feature a sideline rematch of the last two Vanier Cup games, as Glen Constantin of Laval and Greg Marshall of Western will be behind the two benches.A third-year defensive back from Toronto, Johnson dressed and started all eight games for the Blues in 2018. The criminology major and member of the 2016 OUA all-rookie team recorded 19 solo and 24.5 total tackles, while adding two breakups last season.Sequeira, a third-year quarterback from Pierrefonds, Que., dressed and started the first four games of the 2018 season before being sidelined due to injury. During those four games, Sequeira went 72-for-127 for 875 yards and two touchdowns. The commerce major threw for a career-high 367 yards versus Waterloo on September 1 and also ranked second on the team with 196 rushing yards in 2018.The week-long event – including four days of practices, a combine for participating players, and a CFL free agent camp – serves as the first step to identifying future CFL talent.
